Omnimotion- Dream Wide Awake (AlephZ06)

Aleph Zero is proud to present... A New Omnimotion Album!!!

After four years of recording, producing and composing new music in his Ambium Studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, Omnimotion is finally back with a second album. Utilizing inspirations and knowledge he picked up along his very diverse musical path, Stefan has created Dream Wide Awake. The album contains the best musical gems that were carefully chosen from the music that accumulated in this four year period. It is a beautifully mellow yet optimistic album, with a strong acoustic presence. Dream Wide Awake is an incredibly diverse album. It features eight different vocalists- from a rapper to an opera singer- and many guest musicians with an array of instruments including the violin, accordion, guitar, drums, harp & flute. The outcome hovers between the electronic and the acoustic, the hypnotic and the melodic, between abstract ambient and mellow songs, between dubby songs and IDM glitches. Omnimotion weaves and paints here an emotional musical journey that must not be missed and will leave you dreaming wide awake.

1. Nothingness

Over the holidays I picked up the newest Solid Steel installation from Bonobo. I think I have listened to it every day since then. I am so addicted to it. It gives me goosebumps sometimes.

If you are a fan of Bonobo, you have to check it out. It is more dancefloor oriented than his studio albums, but includes many of his own familiar tracks with a new twist to them.

I love to talk about good music with anyone and I don't have any friends on here yet. So if you feel so inclined, throw in your 2 cents.

burnt & atom are at it again!!
they've got a new album coming out on september 5th entitled "spirituals"

reposted without permission from nonplace.de:

This new Flanger album is all about re-imagining a period when music was still playful in itself - because back then, there was just no reason to be too serious about it.

Back then, people would come to call their songs Spirituals, for their inspiration to sing and play them came from above and would leave them in high spirits. Which was all the more reason to sing and play their songs.

As Atom™, one of the two main players behind the Flanger project, put it, Spirituals goes back to a time when "music was recorded in an almost documentary manner, when such things as "production" and recording techniques and technology did not yet exist - and therefore did not influence the nature of the musical creation itself. one could define it as a musically naive period. historically the last time music contained something like an immaculate, innocent spirit."

It is this spirit which Atom™ and his long-time Flanger comrade, Burnt Friedman, are trying to catch. Only that it's nearly a century onward, and they are doing it their own global way. Over the last three years, both have recorded material, sending their efforts back and forth electronically between their studios in Santiago de Chile and Cologne de Germany.

All the while, both kept touring the world with their diverse musical projects, always carrying their mobile recording units along to have musicians from many corners of the world play with them. Much like the fin-de-siecle researchers who recorded the first Spirituals. Only that afterwards, both would bend the recorded material, give it a little twist to this side and that - be playful just like in the olden days, but with the use of modern instruments.

This album is not about re-constructing endless virtuoso solos via mere knob-twiddling. With Spirituals, Flanger first of all want to explore and relive the emotional sides of this jazz-before-jazz, its moods and sentiments. As Friedman points out, the album may very well be seen as "the restoration of a lost sensibility".

stoked!!

they're also about to tour together for the first time.....but unfortunatley wont take it out of europe.

wish i could fly....

The other day I heard a remix / colab from Blockhead and Prefuse. also a good track by Prefuse and Joshua Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv. They were MP3's on bearshare and I bet they are totally impossible to find on wax, but I wonder if any of you guys know of some good new music that has somehow slipped under my radar.

HYPNOMADIC feat. Soulsalaam and Process Rebel is performing this Friday @ Elbo Room - You can get cheaper advance tickets here:
www.sunsettickets.com/evinfo.php

Hypnomadic is a modern urban dance floor hybrid of electronic beats and cultural elements featuring the dj/producer/musician team up of Soulsalaam and Process Rebel.

Having performed with Barbarito Torres of Buena Vista Social Club and Hamsa Lila at The Fillmore and at Red Bull's Ascension party at 1015 Folsom in San Francisco, Hypnomadic creates their own cinematic fusion sound. Grimey hip-hop, punchy dancehall, dirty breakbeats and rugged d'n'b all teased with ragga M.C.s, bhangratronic, vocal accapellas and live percussion with a touch of swirling dub effects. Imagine yourself dazzled by King Tubby's studio trickery gone mad!

As well as creating their own original tracks their remixes and reworks include such artists as Saul Williams (Ninja Tune Records), Muslimgauze, Mr. Oizo, MIA, Antibalas, M.C. Cantankerous, Kelis, Missy Elliot, Roots Manuva (Big Dada), Systemwide (BSI Records), Thug Emporium (Quake Trap Records, SF) and Erick Sermon (Def Jam).

PROCESS REBEL aka Chad Jones
Being a pinnacle guitarist in the Seattle "Grunge" scene, Chad also has several solo releases on Manifold Records under the moniker Totemplow. He has also collaborated with Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), DJ Spooky and Mick Harris (Earache Records, Scorn). He is currently working on the soundtrack to the new film "Twilight Men," from the directors of "Genghis Blues."
http://www.subinfinity.com

SOULSALAAM is a dj, percussionist and producer exploring beyond the limitations of genres and categories. His set flows through many styles of music, past and present, connecting the ancient masters with their contemporary electronic counterparts. He has worked, collaborated and shared the stage with Zakir Hussain, Baaba Maal (Palm Pictures), Nortec Collective, Antibalas, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Ursula Rucker (K7), Barbarito Torres (Buena Vista Social Club), Da Lata (Palm Pictures), KJ Sawka & Siamese, Freq Nasty (Skint), Dj Krush, Cheb I Sabbah (Six Degrees), Kid Beyond, Hamsa Lila, Systemwide (BSI), Dj Lorin, Koma and Bones (TCR), Lee Coombs, Garaj Mahal, J-Boogie's Dubtronic Science (OM Records), Uberzone, Shaggy Manatee (Quake Trap, SF), Dr. Israel's Brooklyn Jungle Sound System/Seven, Dub Gabriel & Professor Shehab (Baboon Records, NYC).
