Anyone know of stuff similar to skalpel?
i love this 'vintage jazz' electronica feel, but i've never come across anything similar to skalpel apart from 'Root A'Kool' which was recommended on a skalpel website

Tue, May 23, 2006 - 8:22 AMok, so i had had the same question as blix and just never asked it.
and i listened to your recommendations..... i am suprised to say that i actually REALLY enjoyed the DIJ Sanders better than the mentioned Amon Tobin track. and i love Amon!
why hasn't this been more widely marketed?? this is good stuff. -

Tue, May 23, 2006 - 9:38 AMYeah i hear you, its a shame that some artists never get there work marketed very well. On the same token though it is always nice to find a hidden gem once in a while like this album.
Did you also check out the 4 track Ep titled DIJF ?
The first track 'contradict people' is quite stunning.
And carrying on with the whole jazz genre also check out 'The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble' which is on Planet Mu, but can also be found on Bleep. -

Tue, May 30, 2006 - 7:30 PMkilimanjaro darkjazz ensemble is bong-ra with a few other folks. if you dig that you'd probably like his remixes of venetian snares' rossz csillag alatt szueletett. -

Re: Skalpel
Wed, May 31, 2006 - 7:24 AMi have to admit that i really didnt like any of Bong-ra's remixes of Rossz Csillag, the album itself was a masterpiece and to my opinion i really dont think it needed to be played with or altered in anyway at all, thank you for recomending it though Don.
Still, the dark jazz ensemble is a definatly a well put together album- its perfect for when your in the right mood for it.
